Sooo me and the girlfriend spent the 12th and 13th of this month in Sligo to celebrate the cringey valentines day(bleuuuuuuuuuuuuugh). We stayed at the Best Western Hotel which in itself was nice bar a few things.
The first night we got down early. I was starving and was disappointed to learn that they didn’t do room service :(
However, the food that I eventually walked and got was indeed lovely :). We had dinner in the hotel that night. I had a soup, with a chicken pasta dish and profiteroles for dessert. Of course a couple of Bulmers Lights thrown in there too ;). The food was in fact lovely and the restaurant had a lovely setting.
The second day and night was more fun. We tried out the leisure centre where I ended stuck in a pool with about 20 kids who were all getting swimming lessons :s. The pool wasn’t that big so needless to say things were a little awkward. I tried out the gym which is TINY but did the job. We had food in the bar that night while watching the UTD and Real Madrid game which took an hour to come out. All I had ordered was a streak sandwich.
We ended up having drinks in the room then heading to a nightclub called Pure which infact was a great night. We went to a “shag tag” party. Everyone is given a number and then they can see what others are saying about them the next day on facebook and twitter.
Being the only two oddballs in the club we decided to have fun with the locals pretending we knew people and hadn’t seen them in years. How funny is the look on someones face when they feel guilty for not remembering you but at the same time are trying to pretend they do?? haha priceless!
After a great night I decided to treat myself to some breakfast room service BUT the hotel forgot to collect my door hanger thing. I was soooo disappointed and had to ring reception to send up the breakfast we had ordered in the first place.
All in all Sligo was ok. The hotel let me down big time but in fairness the room was huge and the hotel was very well kept. Sligo’s nightlife is definitely worth checking out too as I easily had one of the best nights out there so far this year.
By the way I’m back ;)
A blog post a day keeps the _____ away
I’ll let you fill in the blanks :)
Looking for your opinions on this.
Currently, I am sitting my finals in a Degree in International Business with French and Spanish and yesterday we had a 3 hour exam on International Political Economy.
At 1pm we were handed the paper, everyone opened it quickly to see if our questions came up (which they did) and we began the paper.
However what was strange about this paper was that at the beginning of each question it began with “Students should answer along the lines of….” and it gave guidelines. Strange?? We thought so too!
However the majority of us genuinely believed that the lecturer was being sound and giving us guidelines to our essays as they needed to be 4/5 pages long and the “guidelines” given were in no way 4/5 pages long. At 3.41pm , head of department strolls in with a very abrupt “Eh what do you think you are doing?”. Not a hello, not even a how is the exam going, just straight in and BAM!
We were then informed that were actually given the marking scheme and NOT the paper!
So after 2 hours and 41 minutes this is discovered and we are told that it will have to be resit!
However there was uproar as people genuinely didn’t cop on (myself included).
Our opinions on the matter were considered by our International Marketing lecturer who met with head of school yesterday.
Honestly though do you think it is fair for us to have to resit the exam??
We were under exam pressure, opened the paper without reading the front and began!
Also how on earth did D.I.T manage to print of 200 marking schemes!!
We did a current assessment worth 50% so there is talk of making that our final grade. There is also talk of the whole incident being forgotten about and it being corrected as normal.
What you reckon?
Good work DIT ;)
Sooo this weekend is my last weekend ever that I could possibly win a medal from the varsities as it’s my lst year in college :(
Last year unfortunately DIT didn’t perform up to scratch with their scholarship players all on erasmus (ahem) meaning we are actually in the B varsities this year! Non the less it is a national competition and we will be hoping to win it!
We have royal college of surgeons in our group along with Griffith College Dublin, two teams that we have never played before. So it’s safe to say we have no idea what to expect but thats the fun of it really! This year they are in Limerick (University of Limerick) which is an awesome city for a good night out!
With my finals in ten days I think ill use this an excuse to let the auld hair down before going into hibernation next week studying. To think that in a month ill be pretty much finished studying for gooooooooooooooooooooooood!!
Who wants to burn the books with me? ;)
DIT FOR VARSITIES!! :)
Right folks turns out that the machine you step on that calculates bmi and body fat is WRONG!!!!!!
I repeat WRONG!!
Steppin on the machine i was 10.5% body fat!
two weeks ago i decided to get a calipers done and it turns out that im actually 11.9% body fat.
So stats were 81. kg and 11.9% body fat.
The trainer put me on a supplement and i have been so strict with diet and training over past two weeks!
tomorrow morning i am getting the test done again and the goal is to have maintained or gone up in weight but decreased in body fat.
Now i know your thinking to lose fat means less calories but to gain weight means more calories so it seems impossible to do both at same time!
Well my goal is by June to be 9% body fat and be 83kg or higher.
Tomorrow i will post my results after two weeks of dieting and training and should it be a success I will let you guys know exactly what Iv done.
Peace out guys!
Tune in tomo ;)
ok so about 2 months ago i told you guys that i was around 10.5% bodyfat and weighed 83kg.
Well this morning me and a mate are heading to get our stats taken so hopefully its good progress for you guys to see and I can tell you exactly how i did it. Ideally I would love to be told that I am 9% and still 83kg but just going to have to wait and see ;)
